Problem

Microfinance institutions depend on financial rules that must be exactly right, and their teams need reports and dashboards they can trust.

Solution

Designed the database schemas and implemented the complex financial logic in Oracle PL/SQL, exposed it through REST APIs, and built dynamic reporting components, dashboards, and PDF financial reports on top.

System architecture

  1. Oracle database as the system of record, with schemas designed for financial data.
  2. Core financial calculations implemented in PL/SQL, close to the data.
  3. REST APIs expose the financial operations and reports to the application layer.
  4. Reporting layer: dynamic report components, dashboards, and PDF financial reports.

Backend logic

  • Complex financial rules implemented in PL/SQL so calculations stay consistent wherever they are called from.
  • Schemas designed around the financial records the product has to keep.
  • Reporting components built to be reused across reports rather than written one-off.
